Wasel Safwan was born on full moon of 15th Ramadan 1399 H. ( 9th August 1979 ). He grew up in Al Ain city in the Al Muajei district, United Arab Emirates. Finishing his education with a Bachelor in Architecture by Prof. Burhan Tayara and architect Faisal Al Bannani, from Ajman University in Al Ain, 2003.  His artwork is proof that the study of architecture influenced his emerging style making it clearer and sharper by introducing broken lines and geometries. He enjoy composing sharp contrasting volumes, shapes and colours on a large canvas & three dimensional objects. He has been travelling to different nations of the world, living in different cultures, and producing artworks during his stays in places as diverse as Ostrava, Prague, Makkah, Madinah, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Melaka, & Cameron Highlands. He has lectured at United Arab Emirates University, Zayed University, Al Hosn University, and the Higher Colleges of Technology.

Wasel has now participated in a number of solo and group exhibitions such as UAE Pavilion EXPO 2010 in Shanghai, WOMAD Festival, the SMALT Art 2009 at Vitkovice in Czech Republic, Emirati Expressions 2009, Emirati & Indian Artists titled Kaleidoscope, French Art Festival 2008, Art Paris Abu Dhabi 2007, and the solo exhibition titled Constructivism and UAEism in Dubai. His first exhibition piece in the Inaugural Biennale Exhibition for Fine Arts, UAE University in 2001 earned him first prize. This was awarded to him by Sheikh Nihayan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, president of the UAE University at his palace in Abu Dhabi.


He completed three pieces in the art cars field; a Nissan Murano, painting a Ferrari Formula One racer and a 1959 Chevrolet Impala.
Wasel’s idea for his UAEism style of non-figurative, abstract art evolved from the cultural influences of his upbringing and surroundings together with his study of Architecture. Wasel personal philosophy on art is, "Art was born from a respect for humanity; its colours correspond to different tongues in different conditions at the same time".
